My parents back in the day (1954-1960) owned a cottage on Wallace Lake, about 4 houses down from what now is Walden's Supper Club. Back then I believe it was called Carl Hansen's Supper Club (circa 1959) and then Dot's. I am so very happy and feel blessed that this supper club is still going as we had dinner there for my 60th birthday this past May, 2015, and that evening it was 56 years TO THE DAY and minute that I celebrated my 4th birthday with my parents, godparents and other family members at this supper club in 1959. It was surreal. The walls are still the knotty pine as I remember.. I remember that night vividly, I remember the flash bulbs going off to take a picture with the owner at that time who was very good friends of my dad, Carl Hansen and myself. I remember the flash bulbs going off taking a picture of my beloved parents and myself... to be lucky enough to have celebrated my 60th birthday in the very same spot at the very same moment leaves me speechless. It really meant a lot to me. (I was a little crazy showing my 4th birthday pictures that I brought along to the owners and some of the customers but they seemed to enjoy it!) Walden's is the epitome of the great supper clubs of the past, DO NOT CHANGE A THING! The atmosphere is awesome, the view of my beloved Wallace Lake is so cool and the food and drinks are top notch. Their prime rib is outstanding and I'm very fussy with my prime rib! It was so tender, you could cut it with a knife. I totally am in love with Walden's and I wish it was closer to my home because I would make my husband take me to dinner there every weekend, and I'm not kidding! Bucket List: I want to purchase my parent's old cottage! So many fond memories of that restaurant/building of past and I look forward to many dinners at Walden's in the future. Thanks for keeping this very special supper club alive! I'm very thankful!

I absolutely love old Wisconsin supper clubs. Walden-A is everything you would want a supper club to be. Their fish fry is fresh, crispy, and it comes with a salad bar. The salad bar had all the usual suspects (pasta salad, pea salad, green salad and toppings, etc.) They also serve Spotted Cow on tap. It's the perfect place for a family dinner. Yum.

My husband and I love going to Waldens. Its relaxing sitting at the bar having a cocktail before were seated in the dining room. The view of the lake is great and in summer you can see the action on the lake. Always have good service and the food has always been good. We like the salad bar. Its small but it offers just the right stuff. Love the steaks , ribs and chicken. The warm bread they give you is great too,

Since I can't give half stars, I had to give two, but I really want to give 2.5 stars. I remember going to this restaurant for many years, since it seemed to be one of my grandparent's favorites. My dad says that the quality of the food and service has been like a roller coaster over the past many years. However, we decided to give it a shot tonight. As far as environment goes, it is the same as I remember it. EXACTLY the same. To me, it could stand a little remodeling. But, some people don't like change, especially older people. As I looked around myself, I did notice that the majority of the patrons were probably in their 70s to 80s. There were some young bucks in there, probably in their late 50s. So, maybe this restaurant caters to that crowd. Service was a bit slow. My water glass went empty a time or two, and stayed empty quite a bit longer than it would have at the average restaurant. That was a bit disappointing, considering the only beverage that I requested was water. Dirty dishes were a bit slow to be cleared off the table. Dessert was super slow, especially when all they had to do was put some ice cream in a dish and dump some hot fudge over it. However, I have certainly had worse service, so I really don't have anything very serious to complain about when it comes to service. I was in the mood for crab legs, so I ordered the surf-n-turf. It came with Alaskan king crab legs and tenderloin, choice of potato, and soup or salad bar. I got garlic mashed potatoes, which were nothing to write home about. I could taste the garlic, but they were rather flavorless and I think that I would rather have had a baked potato. The salad bar was a normal salad bar and there was an extra section with some pasta salads and other types of salads. The crab legs were good. The flavor was good, the texture was good. They didn't taste fishy and they seemed to be good quality. The steak was a sirloin that I requested to be cooked medium rare. It was cooked properly. However, there were some crispy spots on the outside, which I am not a big fan of. I am also not a huge fan of that cut of meat, but it was certainly edible. The dessert was just ice cream with some hot fudge. You can't really go wrong there. However, the whipped cream on top did not taste like real whipped cream, which is kinda gross. This restaurant is very average. Nothing horrible about it, and nothing great about it. If I ever want crab legs again, I guess I would go back. But, I will probably try a bit harder to find another place that serves crab legs first.
